Davit Hakobyan

Founder and Managing Partner

Davit is the founder and managing partner of Dimension Legal LLC (renamed as Dimension Legal RVS following the partial acquisition by a London-based law firm, April 2021).

Davit is a non-judge member of the Committee on Ethics and Disciplinary Issues of the General Assembly of Judges of the Republic of Armenia endorsed by Transparency International Anti-Corruption Armenian Center․

 

Davit used to coordinate the Transparency International Anti-Corruption Center’s projects and initiatives for a fair and accountable mining sector in Armenia. In the meantime, Davit was involved with the Responsible Mining Center, AUA and Mining Legislation Reform Institute in the preparation of the changes to the Armenian Mining Code, Environmental Impact Assessment Law and Mining Inspection Law submitted respectively to Armenia’s Ministry for Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Armenia’s Ministry of the Environment and Armenia’s Inspectorate for the Environment and Mining. Davit was entrusted by the UNDP to prepare training courses on data protection and human rights protection mechanisms for the civil servants.

Before starting his own practice, Davit used to work as Legal Manager for Deloitte Armenia, and was a Chief Legal Adviser for Armenbrok investment company.

Davit’s private legal practice emphasizes corporate, securities, finance and general business law. Davit has advised on a wide range of M&A and corporate law issues, various forms of commercial contracts drafting and negotiation, investments and institutional lending.

Davit promotes the practice of Human Rights Due Diligence in Armenia, and the implementation of United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.

Before moving to private legal practice, Davit worked in international organizations for a total of 7 years between 2004-2011 where he was involved as Program Officer, Consultant and Legal Expert in development projects under the umbrella of the OSCE (Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe) and UNDP (United Nations Development Programme).

 

Davit has been involved in major inquiry and fact-finding commissions set up in Armenia over the last 15 years. He participated as a Legal Adviser in the investigation conducted by the Parliamentary Inquiry Commission on '2016 April War'. Davit Hakobyan coordinated a Task Force to assist Armenia’s Human Rights Defender in investigating the causes of large-scale violence and the death of ten civilians which occurred in the aftermath of the February 2008 Armenian presidential election. An ad hoc report was released on behalf of the Human Rights Defender’s Office. Davit also worked for the International Criminal Court (Office of the Prosecutor, Ugandan situation)

Davit has earned LLM Degree at University Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne (France) and completed his legal practice course (LPC) with BPP Law School in London (UK).

He is a practicing lawyer both in Armenia and England & Wales.
