Sofia Zakharyan

Associate

Sofia is an associate in Dimension Legal RVS.

Sofia has a dual degree in Bachelor of Laws Russian-Armenian State University (graduated summa cum laude). During her studies, Sofia was selected from Armenia to participate in an Academic Exchange Program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and studied U.S. Legal System, International Relations, and U.S. Constitutional Law at the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire.

Sofia also has received a Master of Laws Degree from the American University of Armenia with her studies focusing on Corporate Governance, Intellectual Property Law, Business organizations, Anti-corruption and Compliance. Within the course of her legal education, Sofia also shaped her practical skills by active involvement in Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Moot Court, and Jean-Pictet Competition in International Humanitarian Law.

In addition to her academic background, Sofia also successfully passed the Armenian Bar Exam and obtained a license to practice law in Armenia.

Prior to joining Dimension Legal RVS, she has worked at the Office of the Human Defender and Office of the President of the Republic of Armenia. During her work at the Human Rights Defender’s Office, she was initially engaged in international legal cooperation and subsequently in protecting human rights in the Criminal Justice sector. During her employment, she acted as the Human Rights Defender’s Office representative in Anti-Corruption Working Group established by the Armenian Ministry of Justice and comprised representatives of state institutions, civil society organizations, and international donor organizations.

Her areas of expertise are international investment law, corporate governance, corporate responsibility, anti-corruption and compliance, criminal business law, criminal procedure, human rights in business.
